The Rock has discussed his WrestleMania 41 status with a concerned fan amid a report that he could miss next year’s event.
Dave Meltzer wrote in his Wrestling Observer Newsletter this week that the legendary wrestler was currently “not scheduled to be on the show,” with a source adding that The Rock’s schedule was becoming “too demanding” for him to fully commit to the event.
That report apparently reached some fans, with one of them asking “The People’s Champion” directly in his Instagram comments if he would be appearing at next April’s event.
“Are you really not working on Mania 41??? Say you ain’t,” they wrote.
The performer, whose real name is Dwayne Johnson, responded with an emphatic statement on Saturday night.
The Rock assured a fan that he would be at WrestleMania in Las Vegas, Nevada next year
He will reportedly face his real-life cousin Roman Reigns (right) in a triple threat match.
“Don’t believe that crap,” he wrote.
The Rock returned to WWE last Saturday night at Bad Blood after the main event, which included Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.
However, he has not committed to any of them, so it is currently unclear whether or not he will join them.
A report during a recent Wrestle Votes Q&A session on Sportswear Backstage Pass suggested that the trio will compete in a triple threat match at WrestleMania.
“I can tell you that it is on the table,” the report read.
“I’m not sure it’s finalized in any way. It’s October. I doubt it’s finalized, but that idea has been floated and I think it makes more sense for the company to have those three guys in the ring.
The Rock and Reigns were originally scheduled to face off at Wrestlemania this year, but WWE changed course and had Reigns face Rhodes after intense fan reaction.
Next year’s Wrestlemania will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 19-20.
