Donald Trump called his former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly a “stupid person” and “weak” on the inside after he went public and said his former boss fit the definition of “fascism.”
Trump was commenting on John Castimatidis’ statement on the WABC radio show in New York, where he made a new threat against special counsel Jack Smith.
The threat came in response to a question about illegal immigration. Trump called for “murderers, murderers, mentally ill people to get out” — prompting him to abruptly reverse Smith, who is leading the Jan. 6 case against him.
“We need to throw Jack Smith out with them, the mentally ill people. Jack Smith should be considered mentally ill. He should be deported.”
That prompted a break from Castimatidis, who suddenly remembered the question he had forgotten earlier in the broadcast. “I remember! I remember!” he exclaimed.
The question was whether Trump considered it “treason” for the person who let 13,000 murderers into the country.
Former President Donald Trump called former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general, a “marshmallow.”
Trump did not use the term, but immediately said the person who “took charge” was political rival VP Kamala Harris.
His comments about excluding the prosecutor leading the case against him follow Harris’ assertion in a CNN town hall that Trump has an “enemies list,” referring to his call for “retaliation.”
Trump said this week that he would fire Smith immediately if elected, effectively ending the Jan. 6 trial and the classified documents case, in which Smith is appealing the order of a Trump-appointed judge.
Trump’s comments about Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general, were scathing and came after Kelly told The New York Times that Trump had told him more than once, “You know, Hitler did some good things, too.”
Trump ripped off former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, a retired Marine Corps general. “He was tough, but he ended up like a marshmallow,” Trump said
Vice President Kamala Harris responded to Kelly’s comments, bringing it up during a CNN town hall.
He also said comet the textbook definition of fascism. “Well, if we look at the definition of fascism, it’s a far-right authoritarian, ultra-nationalist political ideology and movement characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, coercive suppression of opposition, and a belief in a natural social hierarchy,” he said. “So in my experience, those are certainly the kinds of things that he thinks would work better when it comes to running America,” he said.
Trump criticized Kelly, his longest-serving chief who resigned in January 2019, while saying that people he fired always had a reason to talk to newspapers.
“John Kelly was a stupid person. He was a stiff. He had nothing. He had very little.”
Trump then said he had “two things: He was tough, but he ended up as a marshmallow.”
“He was as weak as anyone I’ve ever seen. But he was a bully,” Trump said.
“I quickly realized I didn’t like him and stopped paying attention.
“I saw him lie when he was in the administration. I thought it was really great,” Trump said. “I have so many things about the man. But I don’t want to waste too much time on that,” he said, before repeating his attack.
“John Kelly was a man of pretty low intelligence, a tough guy who ended up as a marshmallow.”
Trump also went after his former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, who has also spoken out publicly against Trump. “Yesper was a week — I call him ‘Yesper’ because he said yes to everything,” Trump said. He called him “weak and ineffective.”
Kamala Harris and her campaign have tried to capitalize on the string of former top Trump officials who have condemned him.
