While we gave it plenty of praise in our iPhone 14 Plus review , the iPhone 14 Plus is apparently prone to a specific issue with its rear-facing camera, Apple has admitted — and if it affects you, you can get your device repaired for free.
It’s been three years since we’ve had an iPhone service program (where Apple admits to a problem and fixes it for you), but as 9to5Mac has spotted , there’s now officially an issue with the rear-facing camera on the iPhone 14 Plus — which Apple still sells online.
The good news is that this only affects a “very small percentage” of iPhone 14 Plus models, according to Apple. Specifically, the issue is that there’s no preview on the screen when you use the rear-facing camera on the phone.
iPhone 14 Plus units manufactured between April 10, 2023 and April 28, 2024 could be affected: Apple has enabled a serial number checker feature so you can quickly see whether or not your iPhone is included.
If you have an iPhone 14 Plus that has been identified as having issues through serial number verification, you can take it to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to have your phone repaired, free of charge.
You can also contact Apple to send your phone in for repair. Follow this link to find the relevant page on the Apple Support website, where you’ll find options for scheduling an in-store repair or shipping your device in.
If Apple determines that your iPhone 14 Plus is one of the affected devices and you’ve already paid to have the issue fixed, you can get a refund (follow this link). You can file a claim for up to three years from the date you first purchased your iPhone.

There are a few steps you should follow when sending your iPhone in for repair, whether it’s for this issue or another. You’ll want to make sure everything is backed up, turn off Find My, and remove any active cards in Apple Wallet.
